The fast-moving dissolution of “Twilight” stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s long relationship — seldom discussed by the couple — took an important step Thursday as we learned Pattinson had thrown in the towel.
After spending a couple of miserable days “digesting it all,” according to one of his best friends, the 26-year-old actor moved his belongings out of the Los Angeles home he had shared with Stewart.
A photographer caught the actress in a compromising position with Rupert Sanders, director of her film “Snow White and the Huntsman,” leading Stewart to issue a statement apologizing to Pattinson.

“He is still in total shock,” said the source, “but Rob is a very, very proud man — and Kristen knew how he feels about remaining faithful, loyalty and commitment. … He also was horrified that she issued a public apology to him.
“It was even more surprising because the two of them had this very specific personal agreement about not ‘going public’ with their relationship, until they both agreed it was the right time. To do it this way — apologizing for cheating on him — ended up being totally unacceptable.
“As Rob said [after Stewart released her statement], ‘She only had to call two people: me andLiberty [Ross, Sanders’ wife].’ ”

Totally agree that the public apology was crazy and super dramatic. Don’t know exactly what she was trying to accomplish, but it certainly fed the hype.
