The internet is buzzing with news of the latest trailer for what may be the biggest film of the summer.
Man of Steel is the latest installment in the seemingly never-ending Superman franchise — and, from what we can see here, it may be the strongest it has seen in decades.
Most exciting is who is behind the cameras: director Zack Snyder — who has previously proved his comic book-adaptation mettle with 300 and Watchmen — and producer/story writer Christopher Nolan, who did a brilliant job rebooting the Batman franchise.
The trailer is a big one, at three minutes long, and shows baby Kal-El’s beginnings on Krypton, his arrival on Earth, his childhood, and his transformation into the disaster-averting, lycra-clad, flying superhero we all know.
It also features a tantalising tease of Hans Zimmer’s film score and we learn what the “S” on Superman’s chest stands for… and it’s not “Superman”.
The film boasts a seriously impressive cast, with British actor Henry Cavill (The Tudors) starring as Superman/Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent, Michael Shannon as General Zod and Laurence Fishburne as Daily Planet editor Perry White.
Man of Steel is due to be released on June 14
