Rovio releases Angry Birds Go! kart racing game

In keeping with its promise to release a new game on December 11, Finnish games developer Rovio Mobile on Wednesday posted Angry Birds Go! on the App Store.

The kart-racing game is reminiscent of Nintendo’s Mario Kart in that you’ll be racing through speedways, canyons, stunt roads and air courses and enjoying a variety of racing modes like Race, Time Boom, Fruit Splat, Champion Chase and Mega Match.

As Angry Birds Go! is set in Rovio’s Angry Birds universe, expect to see the familiar Piggy Island rendered in nice 3D graphics and a selection of familiar (and playable) Angry Birdscharacters, including the iconic pigs like King Pig and Mustache Pig.

There are over 50 soapbox karts to ride, and you can upgrade them by collecting bird coins. The game is available on a free-to-play basis, with in-app purchases available for coins, gems and various power-ups. I’ve included a launch trailer and some pretty screenies after the break…

From the blurb:

Welcome to downhill racing on Piggy Island! In the NEW Angry Birds Go! launch trailer, see those birds and piggies go head-to-head in a fast and furious race to the finish line.

Check out the trailer.

I love that the game lets me teleport characters from Hasbro’s TELEPODS figures.

This “important message for parents” section from iTunes release notes has definitely caught my attention.

It would be nice if other developers followed suit and made important notices like this front and center in their apps’ description.

Here’s the full list of features:

Rovio teases new ‘Angry Birds Go’ game

New Angry Birds Go! racing game coming this summerRaise your hand if you’ve been thinking to yourself “you know, I think there really needs to beanother Angry Birds game.” No one? Ok. Well apparently that’s what the folks at Rovio have been thinking, because one is coming.

The developers of the popular Angry Birds platform just announced on their blog that they have an all new game in the works called ‘Angry Birds Go.’ It didn’t offer up many details for the game, but it did post this teaser image…

The Road Runner? No, Angry Birds - New Angry Birds Go! racing game coming this summer

And here’s the accompanying announcement from Rovio’s blog:

“Those birds and piggies are getting ready for their most thrilling and action-packed game yet! All your favorite characters are returning for a brand new title that will bring you closer to Piggy Island than ever before. It’s Angry Birds, but not as you know it!”

Again, it’s hard to discern from the available details what kind of game Angry Birds Go is going to be—it doesn’t look like your typical bird-slinger. But I like TouchArcade’s theory that it’s some kind of Temple Run-like runner.

No release date was given, but Rovio says ‘be on the lookout for more updates over the summer,’ so it sounds like they’re shooting for a late summer/fall release.

Gameloft teases Asphalt 8: Airborne

Asphalt-8-teaser

French games maker Gameloft is on a roll lately. Hot on the heels of teasing its upcomingModern Combat 5 for iOS and Android and releasing Gangstar Vegas on the App Store, just a few hours ago it posted the first Asphalt 8: Airborne teaser.

Yup, the next installment in the Asphalt franchise promises to up the ante with high-octane action.

This usually entails smashing vehicles into each other and taking control of crazy fast racing cars that defy gravity and fly all over the place, almost as if someone’s watched a tad too many Fast and Furious movies. We’re not complaining, though. Asphalt 8: Airborne looks business and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. Your action-packed trailer is right after the break…

Gameloft promises both synchronous and asynchronous multiplayer, in addition to several game modes such as Gate Drift, Infected and Takedown, the latter making a return fromAsphalt 7.

Gate Drift will challenge you to drift your way through multiple gates. The more you get through, the more points you get. If the following screenies are anything to go by, we’re in for some non-stop adrenaline action.

Infected mode has one player starting as “infected.” The goal is to hit another car within 20 seconds in order to pass the infection along and regain health.

You can also expect eight brand new maps and an assortment of high-end vehicles from the usual suspects like Lamborghini, Bugatti, Zonda, Ferrari, Mercedes and many more.

Asphalt 8 is coming soon to iOS and Android.

Oh, and it’s going to cost only 99 cents.

Gameloft posts first teaser trailer for Modern Combat 5

Modern Combat 5 teaser video & great name debate

So far we have had Modern Combat Sandstorm, Modern Combat 2 Black Pegasus, then there was Domination and MC 3 Fallen Nation, and the 4th instalment was Zero Hour. Today we have some great news about Modern Combat 5 that is now being teased before E3.

FPS (First Person Shooter) fans will be happy to know the Modern Combat 5 teaser video is now here and you can watch the clip below this article.

Modern Combat 5 teaser video & the name debate

This is the next chapter that will blow you away, the video looks awesome and we will be installing this app as soon as it releases. This is one of the best shooter franchises ever to release on both iOS and Android platforms.

This exclusive trailer does not give anything away really other than being huge, it has been said the story line is immense and any Modern Combat fan will most definitely want it. This game is getting so much closer to the graphics and gameplay status as the Call of Duty games.

After watching the video it proves that helicopters, boats, more weapons, better visuals and superb missions will be amazing. We are dribbling right now and cannot wait, hopefully more will be revealed at E3, which starts on June 11 to the 13 in Los Angeles.

The Modern Combat 5 name debate
No one knows what the name will be as of yet, many forums are saying it will called “Last War” but we are not too sure. This name is not set in stone and as far as we can tell and only showing up in forums, it might simply be called Modern Combat 5 with no name at the end.

What do you think the full name will be on Modern Combat 5?
