The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards are being held Sunday, August 30, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and hosted by Miley Cyrus. Awards will be handed out in 16 categories, and Kanye West will be presented with the Vanguard Award.

Taylor Swift leads the nominations for the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, boasting 10, mostly for her “Bad Blood” video, which is nominated for Video of the Year.

Ed Sheeran boasts the second most nominations with six. He is also nominated for Video of the Year for “Thinking Out Loud.” Kendrick Lamar also boasts four nominations.

The record for most awards won by an artist over their career is held by Madonna, who holds 20 trophies. Even if Swift swept all of her categories, she would not catch up.

She could, however, tie Peter Gabriel’s record of 10 wins in a single year. He won those awards in 1987 — nine for his famous “Sledgehammer” video and the Video Vanguard Award in addition.

Justin Bieber:

His performance on the VMA stage was as straightforward as the VMAs get, even ending with laser lights and Bieber floating upward toward the ceiling. The rest of the set, including both “Where Are U Now” and Bieber’s new single “What Do You Mean?” showed off Bieber’s falsetto and dance moves (which apparently exist!).

By the time the performance was done and Bieber was safely back on the ground, the pop star was hunched over on his knees, breathing hard — and sobbing. Clearly of all of us, Bieber needed this performance the most.

Kim Kardashian looks crazy skinny in her latest TBT pic!

The 34-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star took to Instagram today to share a bikini photo of herself for throwback Thursday. “#TWTFBT I’m throwing this way the f–k back Thursday #MissTeenArmenian,” Kanye West‘s other half captioned the sexy snapshot.

In the photo, Kim rocks a tiny sequined two-piece swimsuit that shows a whole lotta skin. The mother of one’s stomach looks super flat and her waist very skinny as she models the barely-there bikini at her house. In addition to flaunting her slim figure, Kim also shows off her ample cleavage.

While Kim joked that she looks like “Miss Teen Armenian,” we could definitely she her winning a beauty pageant in this sexy swimsuit look!

In other Kim K Instagram news, the E! star melted our hearts yesterday by sharing multiple pics of North West wearing a tutu and ballet shoes. She captioned one adorable shot with, “My tiny dancer.”

Kim also posted pics of Nori playing the piano in her tut. Too darn cute.

Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent becomes the highest grossing film sold on one star’s name!

It was only a few months ago that analysts had, foolishly it would seem, branded Disney’s live-action adventure ‘Maleficent’ as a flop, and that was even before it had been released in cinemas.

However, after a strong opening and consistent debut week and beyond, the stattos were left scratching their heads at the impressive $697 million it has made to date, from a $180 million budget. But what’s more impressive is that ‘Maleficent’ was, until Michael Bay’s ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’, the highest grossing non-superhero film of 2014, which was a heck of an achievement, considering it was predicted to flop upon its end of May release. Impressively, ‘Maleficent’ can now boast as being the highest-grossing film sold on a single movie star’s name. And what does that mean?

Well, it basically means films that were marketed with a single name on the poster and its advertising material. Angelina Jolie’s name solely features on the posters, which qualifies the film. It has proven to be a big hit across the globe and appears to have captured the imaginations of audiences in far greater numbers than anyone ever thought it would.

Top 5 Movies sold on a single star’s name:

1. Angelina Jolie – Maleficent – 697.2
2. Tom Cruise – Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol – 694.7
3. Tom Hanks – Forrest Gump – 677.4
4. Bruce Willis – The Sixth Sense – 672.8
5. Will Smith – Hancock – 624.4

Belgian Teen Axelle Despiegelaere Lands L’Oreal Modeling Gig After World Cup Photos Go Viral!

Axelle_1

A 17-year-old Belgian sports fan, who was shown on television during Belgium’s group match against Russia in Brazil, has landed a gig as a model.

Axelle Despiegelaere’s horned hat and red, black and yellow-painted face began circulating around the Internet and sparked the interest of L’Oreal, who gave her a modeling contract.

She now has a unofficial Facebook page that has amassed over 280,000 likes since its creation.

Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

And Despiegelaere is already experiencing what life is like in the spotlight: Much like everyone’s favorite safari girl Kendall Jones, a photo of Despiegelaere posing next to an oryx gazelle in Africa is gaining negative media attention.

It’s unknown how much Despiegelaere’s contract with L’Oreal is worth, but the company released a video to celebrate their new client. Check it out.

Zac Efron Wins Best Shirtless Performance, Gets Stripped by Rita Ora!

Shirtless-Zac-Efron-found-himself-middle-Jessica-Alba

Zac Efron may not have kept his earlier promise to accept his MTV Movie Award sans shirt, but no matter – presenter Rita Ora was quick to assist.

The Neighbors star, 26, had Tweeted, “If I beat Thor – I’m accepting the award shirtless on stage” back in March, but when the moment finally came Sunday night, Efron’s button-down remained firmly in place.

As the audience heckled him, Ora snuck up behind Efron and did the honors, ripping his shirt down to the navel to reveal that the actor had in fact been working on his fitness.

“I really don’t know what to say, but thank you so much to my fans,” a bare-chested Efron added before laughing and removing the top completely, whipping it around like a lasso. Rounding out his acceptance speech? A flex and salute to the cheering crowd.
