Apple iPhone 6 leaked by Taiwanese star Jimmy Lin!

Taiwanese singer/actor/race driver Jimmy Lin posted photos of himself holding the yet-unannounced iPhone 5c last year and now he’s back with the new iPhone 6. We’ve seen plenty of leaks of the iPod Touch-inspired iPhone, but given Mr. Lin’s track record these images are some of the more credible ones.

Lin confirms the 4.7″ screen for the Apple iPhone 6 and notes that the antennas are still external. The new rounded corners improve the grip but the matte aluminum finish may be slippery.

To compensate for the taller device, the Power key has been moved on the right side. Also, it seems that Apple will be abandoning its dual-LED flash.

Unfortunately, there are no technical details about the phone so we still don’t know the resolution of the 4.7″ screen.

According to info from Foxconn there will be a 5.5″ iPhone too.

New photos of alleged iPhone 6 dummy unit show larger and slimmer device!

New photos of an alleged ‘iPhone 6‘ dummy unit surfaced this afternoon. The images depict a device that is noticeably larger and thinner than the current iPhone 5s, with rounded corners, and an overall design that matches up with previous information.

There’s no word on where the physical mockups came from, and there’s obviously no way to determine their validity. But our friends over at Nowhereelse.fr say that the snapshots were published by a long-time member of a well-known Chinese forum…

Nowhereelse.fr’s Steve Hemmerstoffer has more on the photos:

Published by a member of a well-known Chinese forum indiscretions cabbage lovers , the three photos that I propose to examine in this article are meant to introduce the physical model of one of the future iPhone rumored ad with a lot of leaks for several months already . Prototype for reference molding to prop in mobile telephony. Silicone skin cases that I presented earlier this month (read: iPhone 6: New hulls stock … ) have also been designed using a prototype of the same kind .

Again, the dummy unit matches up with many of the leaked cases, renders and other intel we’ve seen up until now. Note the elongated  volume buttons and the rounded flash on the rear of the device (below) — both of which were mentioned in previous reporting.

Unfortunately, the device’s measurements weren’t made available and there are few points of reference in the photos to try to make any sort of guess. It’s believed that Apple is building two new models: one with a 4.7-inch display, and one with a 5.5-inch.

Other alleged details we’ve heard about the handset so far include a higher resolution display panel, a faster A8 processor, 1GB of RAM and an improved 8MP camera. It’s also believed that the phone will feature new types of sensors for tracking various data.

Apple is excepted to unveil the iPhone 6 at a media event some time in September. The 4.7-inch model is said to be going into production next month, with the 5.5-inch beginning a few months later due to manufacturing delays caused by Apple’s in-cell tech.

iPhone 6 to include relocated sleep/wake button and larger, higher resolution display

Last night, KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo sent out a monster research note to investors with a timeline of when he thinks Apple will release their new products this year. He also offered details on each product, which he’s learned from his supply chain connections and other sources.

We’ve already covered Kuo’s iWatch predictions, which called for a “fashionable” smartwatch with advanced features like biometric sensors and wireless charging, and now it’s time to look at his iPhone forecasts. The analyst sees two Apple-branded smartphones launching this year…

Again, Kuo agrees with previous speculation that Apple is building two different handsets: a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch model. They’ll have the same internals though—just like the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display—including an A8 processor, 1GB of RAM, and of course Touch ID.

Display-wise, the analyst believes the 4.7-inch model will feature a 1334×740 Retina display (326 ppi) and the 5.5-inch a 1920×1080 display (401 ppi). Admittedly, the resolutions are odd, but it looks like both panels have the same aspect ratio as the iPhone 5—meaning no need to redesign apps.

As for appearance, Kuo expects both phones to have slimmer bezels around the screen (10-20% narrower) and thinner profiles of just 6.5-7.0mm. He also thinks that Apple will move the iPhone’s sleep/wake button from the top to the side, in an effort to make the larger devices easier to operate.

Finally, Kuo calls for an NFC chip in both smartphones—a technology that Apple has thus far avoided in its mobile products. Keep in mind, though, that the company has filed severalNFC-related patents over the years, and is believed to have pulled NFC chips from the iPhone 5 at the last minute.

The 4.7-inch iPhone is expected to go into production as early as May, ahead of a likely September launch, while the 5.5-inch model is believed to be slated for a later Q4 debut. Kuo sees Apple ending production on the iPhone 4 and 4s, with the 5s and 5c rounding out Apple’s smartphone lineup.

It’s worth noting again that all of this intel came from an analyst report, and despite his track record, nothing is certain.

iPhone 6 said to feature ‘Ultra-Retina’ display, 3 new sensors and more!

A pair of reports surfaced this weekend, claiming to have knowledge of the features and specifications for Apple’s new iPhone. The first report calls for the smartphone to have a trio of new sensors, and the other says an ‘Ultra-Retina’ display is in the cards.

So-called iPhone 6 rumors have been appearing rather frequently over the past few months, with everyone trying to predict the design and capabilities of Apple’s next handset. A larger display, sapphire and A8 chip are all in the pile, and today we add this…

The first report comes from Electronics analyst Sun Chang Xu, relayed by G for Games (viaMacRumors). Citing sources familiar with Apple’s iPhone plans, Xu says that the device will feature 3 new sensors for measuring air pressure, temperature and humidity.

According to Sun Chang Xu (news chief analyst at ESM-China), sources close to the matter have revealed that Apple will catch up in the “sensors department”, as the iPhone 6 will feature pressure, temperature and humidity sensors. Please note that the analyst is probably not referring to blood pressure (this feature is rumored to be implemented in Apple’s iWatch) but to atmospheric pressure.

While the mixture of these things sounds a bit odd, Apple is believed to be integrating support for several new sensors in iOS 8, and it does have a team of scientists nowBut as to what it could be doing with these 3 sensors—outside of weather—I’m not sure.

As for the second report, it’s more of a series of tweets, and it comes from well-known tipster Sonny Dickson. Sonny has been responsible for a number of component and detail leaks in the past, so people tend to listen when he says he has some inside information.

Now, it’s worth noting that Dickson has also been wrong on several occasions, but there’s not much here that doesn’t make sense. An A8 chip would be an obvious successor to the A7, and with the reports of a larger display, you’d think Apple’d have to tweak the resolution.

Other iPhone 6 rumors have included multiple display sizes between 4.7 and 5.5-inches, as well as a 10MP camera and 2GB of RAM. The handset is expected to launch at its usual time this fall, but we’ve seen a few reports suggesting it could launch as early as this summer.
