Apple releases iOS 9.2 to the public

If you have any modern iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, it’s time to drop whatever you’re doing because Apple has a brand new version of the iOS platform for you. iOS 9.2 isn’t a major update by any means, but it includes a wide range of bug fixes and enhancements that users will definitely appreciate. And best of all, it’s available to the public beginning right now.

Apple’s new iOS 9.2 software includes updates to the Safari View Controller across the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Beyond that, this release is all about bug fixes and refinements, which users will certainly appreciate. It’s available right now as an over the air update or as a download accessible through iTunes.

iOS 9.2 is compatible with the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPad 2 or later, iPad mini or later, iPad Pro, and 5th or 6th generation iPod touch.

Also released on Tuesday were new versions of Apple’s watchOS and tvOS software.

Apple Releases iOS 8.4 with Apple Music and a lot of improvements!

Apple has now made iOS 8.4 available to everyone for download. If it hasn’t happened already, you should be receiving the relevant update notification on your iOS device in the next few hours.

iOS 8.4’s most notable feature is, as you may know, Apple Music. The company’s new music streaming service is included in this release. So today also marks the official debut of Apple Music.

You will find the new service inside the redesigned Music app for iOS. Along with this, the latest software release also contains some unnamed improvements to iBooks and bug fixes throughout the OS.

Apple Music should be accessible from more than 100 countries across the globe. It offers a three month long free trial, after which you have to pay $9.99 per month. A $14.99 per month family plan is also available, and this works for up to 6 persons.

It has a few different components to it. First off, you can stream any song you want from Apple’s vast collection. But then there’s also Beats 1, a live radio station that will be broadcast 24/7 exclusively on Apple Music, with tracks chosen by real people, not algorithms. The same human touch is employed in the “For You” section which has recommendations of playlists and albums to listen to. And finally, Apple’s service lets artists directly connect with their fans if they want to.

Update: looks like ios 8.4 is jailbreakable with PP jailbreak. Should wait the confirmation from saurik and the jb team.

iOS 8.3 Jailbreak is now Available with TaiG 2.0!

A jailbreak has been released for iOS 8.3 by the TaiG team. This jailbreak supports iOS 8.1.3 through iOS 8.3 and is Windows only.

The tool, which is dubbed TaiG 2.0. This release is quite interesting, since it was thought that the Pangu team would be the one to release a jailbreak for iOS 8.3 and TaiG would focus on iOS 9. That, obviously, is no longer the case.

Keep in mind that lots of things still need to be updated for iOS 8.3, including Cydia Substrate. Thus, support is limited with regard to jailbreak tweaks and apps.

Step 1: Download and extract TaiG 2.0

Step 2: Disable Find My iPhone and Passcode lock on your device

Step 3: Connect your device to your computer

Step 4: Run the TaiG 2.0 tool and it should detect your device

Step 5: Uncheck the 3K assistant, but keep Cydia checked

Step 6: Click Start

Step 7: Wait until the jailbreak completes. If you see storage full errors, just ignore those

Step 8: Once the jailbreak completes, find the Cydia app on your Home screen and launch it

Attention Jailbreakers: BigBoss repo is allegedly hacked!

BigBoss, one of the default repositories for jailbreak tweaks in Cydia, has allegedly been hacked by an individual or a group of individuals whose identity is still unknown.

The attackers were apparently able to gain access to all packages (paid and free) that are available in the BigBoss repo, and made the deb index and database available for download. The assailants went as far as creating a new repo which can be added to Cydia to download all BigBoss-hosted tweaks.

As is always the case when this type of security breach happens, jailbreak users should be cautious and stay away from this.

Dubbed ripBigBoss, the website and companion repo are using Saurik’s recent “Competition vs Community” as a motivation for their acts, pushing the use of the #WhichSideAreYouOn and #SupportTheCompetition hashtags. It’s important to note that this verbiage could certainly be used as some sort of disguise in order to blur their tracks and put the blame on different groups of people.

We strongly advise jailbreak users not to install or download any tweaks from this new repo. Besides the obvious moral concern over downloading pirated tweaks, users could put themselves at risk of installing malware on their devices without their knowledge.

BigBoss repo manager 0ptimo has yet to comment on this security breach, but it is safe to assume he’s probably hard at work on securing his assets to prevent a future breach.

As a safety measure, and until more light is shed by official parties on this, we suggest not installing or updating tweaks that are hosted in the BigBoss repo. While the potentiality of malware being injected in the official repo is very unlikely, you’re better safe than sorry.

iOS 7.1.1 Jailbreak Released! How to jailbreak iPhone, iPad and iPod?

We’ve got exciting news for the jailbreaking community: a somewhat sketchy iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak has been released by the Chinese team PanGu. I [@ElieChahine] confirm that the tool works as expected, while iOS developer iH8sn0w and others have managed to install Cydia on devices running iOS 7.1 – 7.1.x…

How to jailbreak iOS 7.1.x with Pangu for Windows

Step 1: Download the latest version of Pangu from here:

Step 2: Plug your iOS 7.1.x device in to your computer’s USB port

Step 3: Run Pangu_v1.0.exe on your Windows machine. If you see weird characters, it may be due to Windows not displaying the Chinese character-set correctly. Simply follow along in our video above to see what we mean.

Step 4: Make sure the checkbox is unchecked, and click the Start Jailbreak button(The grey button).

Step 5: Pangu will ask you to go to Settings > General > Date & Time and disable the Set Automatically toggle. You will then need to set the date to June 2, 2014.

Step 6: The jailbreak process will start. Eventually you will see the Pangu app icon on the Home screen. Tap the Pangu icon to launch the Pangu app.

Step 7: Wait patiently, and the jailbreak will process. The video tutorial is sped up, the whole process takes about 10-15 minutes, so be patient.

Step 8: Once the jailbreak is completed, you should see a “enjoy your new jailbreak message”. Unlock your device, and you should see Cydia on the Home screen.

Congratulations. You now have an untethered jailbreak on iOS 7.1.x. Pangu should automatically set your date setting in Settings > General > Date & Time back to Set Automatically.

The jailbreak tool is currently limited to Windows, while a Mac version is in development. It would appear that the PanGu servers are currently being overloaded with users trying to download the jailbreak tool, so the download speed on the file has slowed to a crawl. We recommend that users stay away from the jailbreak until it is given the green light by trusted individuals in the community.

The jailbreak is compatible with the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad 2 or later, iPad Air, iPad mini and the fifth-generation iPod touch running iOS 7.1 or later. Just to state the obvious, the tool cannot be used to jailbreak the iOS 8 betas. If you decide to follow through with the jailbreak right away, against our advice, it is highly recommended that you at least back up your device.

iOS developer iH8sn0w has provided some interesting commentary on this new jailbreak, confirming that the jailbreak worked on his iPad 4 and that it is free of spyware and malicious trails. We are hearing that the jailbreak does install a piracy store, however, much to the chagrin of talented developers within the community. We are strongly against piracy of apps, and we hope you are too.

Again, while this jailbreak appears to be legitimate, we strongly recommend that you exercise caution in choosing to use the tool. There will be several incompatibilities with Cydia packages anyways, so there is little reason to upgrade if you are already jailbroken. If you’re running stock iOS 7.1.1, at least give it a few hours until the dust settles and we have a clearer picture of the jailbreak.
