Sony Xperia Z4 is not the 2015 flagship, stay tuned this May!

Sony Xperia Z4 was announced in Japan today and it’s an incremental upgrade with the Snapdragon 810 chip being the key change.

As it turns out the lack of fanfare for the Xperia Z4 launch in Japan was intentional, as the phone will remain as an exclusive for its homeland. Instead Sony will be premiering a proper flagship smartphone later this year, supposedly this May.

There are no details on the alleged flagship phone, but if previous rumors are to be trusted we’ll be seeing a screen resolution bump. Sony recently promised to focus on the user experience instead of only hardware upgrades, so we should expect improved Android OS and proprietary apps.

So, as the rumor has it, Sony Xperia Z4 is not the flagship you’ve been waiting for. Be patient and stay tuned for the end of May, when Sony will reportedly introduce its international and more advanced flagship smartphone.

Sony Mobile has just put out a press release that finally makes its latest flagship model official. The Sony Xperia Z4 will feature a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920. It will be powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB of native storage. Those requiring more memory can take advantage of the 128GB capacity microSD slot on board. A 20.7MP camera is on back with a wide angle 5.1MP snapper on front for selfies and video chats. A 2930mAh battery will keep the lights on, and Android 5.0 is pre-installed.
Cover Window case available in four colorsThe Sony Xperia Z4 will be available in White, Black, Copper and Aqua Green. The handset is IP6 certified for dust and IP5 and IP8 certified for water. This means that the Xperia Z4 is protected against “Water projected by a nozzle (6.3 mm) against enclosure from any direction.” It also means that the phone can be submerged to 4.92 feet for as long as 30 minutes and emerge unscathed.

Sony says that its new flagship is 6.9mm thin, weighs 144 grams, and features a metal frame. It is .4mm thinner than its predecessor and weighs 8 grams less. The metal frame is put through a treatment to increase the shine. Also new with the Xperia Z4 is a “cooking mode” added to the rear camera, which helps users take better looking shots of food.

Some accessories for the phone were revealed, including a waterproof Cover Window that lets you view important information on the screen while still protecting the handset. This will be available in the same four colors as the Xperia Z4, priced at the equivalent of $59 USD. A desktop holder will also be offered, which will dock the phone and recharge it.

The Sony Xperia Z4 will be available in Japan later this summer. There is no word yet on pricing.

New Sony Xperia Z4 Renders Leak Out!

Alleged Sony Xperia Z4 images made the rounds online. The renders are from the same source as the previous leak and give us a closer look at the upcoming flagship smartphone.

The leaked Xperia Z4 renders leave nothing to the imagination. The upcoming successor of Sony Xperia Z3 will follow the familiar OmniBalance design language. Sony Xperia Z4 features design cues from its both its predecessor and Sony Xperia Z2 with the front facing speakers design.

A port next to the microUSB on the bottom of the smartphone is the biggest mystery in the unannounced Xperia Z4. With the 3.5mm audio jack sitting on top of the device, we are yet to find out what purpose will the element follow.

The renders of the device’s back lack markings, so they might be unfinished. According to the source, the final images might carry some changes.

Purported specs of Sony Xperia Z4 include Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, 5.2” QHD display, 20.7MP camera, and Android Lollipop. The device is expected to debut at some point this summer.

Sony Xperia Z4 vision packs in specs and features!

Sony Xperia Z4 vision b

Expectation is mounting for a rumored unveiling of the Sony Xperia Z4 at CES in Las Vegas. This runs from January 6th to the 9th and so there’s not too much longer to wait until we find out if the current speculation is accurate. While we’re waiting we thought we’d share an interesting new Sony Xperia Z4 design that really packs in the specs and features.

There have been plenty of leaked specs and images already for the Sony Xperia Z4, but of course at this stage these are unconfirmed. Over the last few months we’ve also seen quite a few Sony Xperia Z4 renders to whet our appetites with possibilities. The concept we’re showing here today comes with a specs lineup and also another image showing its size compared to the current Xperia Z3.

It comes from designer Sanjaya Kanishka, and the basic look of the phone isn’t too different from the existing Z3. However, although it has a larger display, the slimmer bezels of this Z4 mean that the width of the phone stays the same. This new Xperia Z4 idea is more compact overall though, as its height is 6mm less than that of the Z3.

Now onto the specs, and while some of these tie in with what we’re anticipating for the real deal, there are some differences. These Xperia Z4 specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core 64-bit processor (4 cores at 2GHz and 4 cores at 1.6GHz), and a 5.3-inch IPS-Neo display with Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 resulting in 554 ppi and featuring Gorilla Glass 4 protection.

Further specs include 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a 4000 mAh battery. Camera capabilities are taken care of with a 22.1-megapixel rear camera with curved sensor, dual LED flash, optical image stabilization and 240fps slow motion video capture, as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Features include Sony X-Ploid speaker technology to enhance bass, and there are upgraded stereo dual speakers, and support for S Master HX Walkman.

It measures 140mm x 72mm x 7.4mm and weighs 160g, and runs the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. When you’ve had time to check out the images and absorb the specs and features of this Sony Xperia Z4 vision we’d like to hear what you think of it. Is this similar to what you’d like to see for the genuine Xperia Z4 when it releases? Why not let us know by sending us your comments.Source

Sony working on a Smartwatch that is completely made of e-paper & Xperia Z4 rumored tech specs leaked!

Ever heard of electronic paper, also known as e-paper, the energy-efficient display technology that tries to emulate the reading properties of normal paper? You can find it on most e-book readers, smartphones, wearables, and if the rumors are to be believed, on a Sony smartwatch soon. According to insiders, the Japan-based giant is currently developing a wearable that will employ patented e-paper-enabled material not only for its display, but for the wristband as well. This will allow the users of the gizmo to customize both the watch face and the band as per their liking. Whether Sony will use color or monochrome e-paper, however, is veiled in mystery.

The wearable, however, shouldn’t be regarded as a successor to Sony’s existing SmartWatch wearables. Instead, the company will try to test out the waters and see how such a device will perform on the market. Moreover, it will demonstrate Sony’s newest technologies.
At the same time, the e-paper wearable will put serious emphasis on “style, rather than trying to outdo more technological offerings”. This apparently falls in line with a research which makes it clear that the design of a wearable gadget is among its most important assets.

“Smartwatches don’t sell now because there is little reason to buy one, since your smartphone can do it all anyway,” revealed Taichiro Nakayama, a consultant with Nomura Research from Tokyo.“Many people choose their watches based on the brand and design. Convincing them to replace what’s on their wrist now is no mean feat.”
As Sony is cutting down a substantial portion of its product portfolio in order to get back in the black and become profitable once again, it makes sense that it will try to re-establish its position as an innovator.
Sony Xperia Z4 rumoured tech specs leaked

It’s not been that long since the Xperia Z3 (pictured) went on sale, but Sony is planning to unveil its successor flagship at CES at the start of next year, and there are strong rumors flying about as to what the Xperia Z4 will consist of tech spec-wise.

The Xperia Z4 is set to get bigger, upping the screen on the Z3 from 5.2in to a 5.4in affair which isn’t surprising given the current trend for more sizeable phablets (just look at the Nexus 6, the large screen of which doesn’t appear to have dampened pre-order enthusiasm).

A Quad HD resolution is promised, but disappointingly, this will be driven by a Snapdragon 805 (it’s disappointing for those who thought the new Snapdragon 810 might be on board, anyway). There will, however, be plentiful RAM in the form of 4GB (yes, 4GB) which should help things run nice and smoothly – if indeed this is correct (this is all speculation, of course).

While the camera will stay the same at 20.7 megapixels (which is plenty enough detail, let’s face it) a new sensor will perform better in low-light, which is good to hear. The front camera will also be a more impressive 4.8 megapixel affair, with a wide angle lens as is the trend these days to ensure selfie fans aren’t disappointed.

Phone Arena, which received the anonymous tip, also heard that the Z4 Ultra is coming with a 5.9in screen and the same CPU and RAM, along with a 16 megapixel camera. Apparently this Nexus 6 rival will also be incredibly svelte at 5.7mm.

Sony will be looking to these devices to help stoke sales, which have been flagging lately, with the company recently announcing a drop in the numbers of handsets expected to ship this year (down from 43 million to 41 million – and well down from the 50 million figure mentioned back in the spring).
